Italian Classes for High School Students
Italian online and on site classes

Junior and Senior High School Students

Junior and Senior High school students residing in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties may qualify to take classes at Allan Hancock College. (High school students not residing in these two counties may also qualify. Click HERE for info.)

Italian classes are available both online and on site. Credits earned may be transferred to high schools for graduation and can also be "banked" for colleges and university degrees. Complete information is available at the College Site (Quick Links, College Now, etc.).

Here is a short list of steps to register:

1. Fill out the College Now! Petition for Enrollement form (click HERE for form) and bring it to the Admission and Records Office. If you live far away, call (805-922-6966 ext. 3248) and ask if you can fax it (fax number: 805-922-3477).

2. Take the placement test (START test). Info on the START test is available HERE. The test may be taken at the Santa Maria or Lompoc Campus. Students unable to come to one of these two campuses may be able to do it near their place of residence. Click HERE for info.

3. Apply for Admission (online).

4. Register for your class (online or in person).

Freshmen and Sophomore High School Students

Freshmen and sophomores high school students residing in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties may also qualify. Before doing steps 1-4, high school freshmen and sophomores need to fill out the College Now! Appeal Form. The College Now! Appeal Form is available HERE. You may also obtain a copy of this form by contacting the Admission and Records Office (805-922-6966 ext. 3248) or the Counseling Department at (805-922-6966 ext. 3633).

High School Students

For High school students not residing in Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo Counties.

High school students residing outside these counties may be able to take Italian classes by passing the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE). Passing this test allows admission to community colleges since it is the equivalent of a high school diploma. Of course, it's a good idea to check with Admission and Records Office to be absolutely sure.
